  • Shanghai's Oriental Cable Network Co. Ltd. selected the Cisco ONS 15454 Multiservice Transport Platform (MSTP) and reconfigurable optical add-drop multiplexer (ROADM) technology for its digital TV optical transport platform. Oriental Cable, the world's largest cable TV city network, becomes the first network service provider in mainland China to deploy ROADM technology.
  • Atlantic Broadband, which has more than 285,000 subs, implemented Harmonic's Narrowcast Services Gateway (NSG) 9000 universal edgeQAM for a new VOD service. In other rollout news, Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) deployed Harmonic's DiviCom MV 500 HD and MV 100 SD encoders and DiviTrack statistical multiplexing for its MPEG-2 satellite program distribution.
  • Aurora Cable Internet, an Ontario-based operator, deployed Juniper Networks M120 multiservice edge router. "By adding the M120, not only has our stability and performance improved, but so too have the response times of the core network," Bryan Challenger, CTO at Aurora Cable, says. "We have also added new capabilities, like bandwidth monitoring, which allows us to more effectively leverage our network resources and offers us further room to grow our business."
  • Bresnan Communications is using Mixed Signals' Sentry digital content monitor to help ensure picture and sound quality. "Sentry allows us to monitor our programming all the way to the quality of experience level, thus giving us the ability to ensure service quality and identify and resolve issues before subscribers are affected," Pragash Pillai, Bresnan's VP of strategic engineering, says.
  • Scorecard Systems was selected by Columbus Communications Trinidad Ltd., which operates under the "Flow" brand, to provide the triple-play provider with subscriber and service analysis capability.
  • SeaChange International signed a Master Purchase Agreement with one of the five largest cable companies in the U.S. This agreement includes the purchase of SeaChange's VOD software and hardware, ad insertion solutions, as well as associated support services. SeaChange reports that it has completed Master Purchase Agreements during the last two months with two of the largest service providers in North America, and the company expects to finalize two more similar announcements in the near future.
  • Scopus Video Networks announced that Texas-based TVMAX has purchased a complete headend solution (Piccolo) to support its migration to an all-digital network. With approximately 100,000 passings, TVMAX provides cable services to MDU housing communities in the greater Houston area.
