  • Brazil's NET Servicos de Comunicacao S.A., owner of Latin America's largest cable operator, NET, placed a large order for ARRIS C4 CMTS to be deployed across its national footprint. The C4 CMTS will provide high-speed data and VoIP services to NET customers in cities including Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba, Brasilia and Santos.
  • Harmonic announced that its Rhozet Carbon Coder video transcoding solution was deployed by broadband video management and publishing provider, thePlatform. A subsidiary of Comcast, thePlatform is using Carbon Coder in its new mpsManage Transcoding Service.

    In other rollout news, Multimedia Polska, a cable and IPTV service provider in Poland with more than 600,000 subs, deployed Harmonic's on-demand solutions for its new VOD service launched in September 2007. Multimedia Polska is the first cable op in Poland to roll out VOD, and the service, initially available in six cities, will be available to their entire digital cable sub base by the end of the year.
  • Rentrak Corp. and Time Warner Cable announced that they have entered into a multi-year services contract to provide VOD measurement and analytical services. TWC joins a list of ops including Bresnan, Cablevision, Charter, Comcast, Insight, Suddenlink, Verizon FiOS and WOW that have partnered with Rentrak to provide on demand content measurement and analytical info.
  • TANDBERG Television announced that its OpenStream digital services platform has been fully deployed by Polish op Multimedia Polska, which has more than 600,000 subs. Multimedia Polska also launched a HDTV offering last year using TANDBERG encoding, and the op's future plans include introducing more advanced services such as mobile TV.
