The Board of Directors for the American Cable Association elected cable vets Martin Brophy, president and owner of Shen-Heights Television, and Kirby Campbell, vice chairman of Armstrong, to its executive Committee. Both represent independent cable ops that have been providing telecommunications services to families in rural and smaller communities for more than 50 years.

Cedar Point Communications promoted Chris Zanyk to VP, North American Region and CALA. Zanyk, a 12-year veteran of telecommunications sales, previously served as managing director, Latin America for the company.
In other personnel news, Cedar Point announced that Ed Flannery, a founder of Opticom and a veteran of two dozen years in the networking industry, and Bart Green, who most recently was VP of sales for OneVoice, were named to the positions of VP, sales, with responsibilities for the Northeast and Western regions, respectively.

Ken Koffman, BigBand Networks' global corporate quality officer, was elected to the QuEST (Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications) Forum's board of directors. Koffman joins execs from AT&T, Verizon, Vodafone, BT Global Services and China Telecom. The board shapes changes to the QuEST Forum'sTL9000 certification and drives global industry quality improvement. TL 9000 defines a set of standards for the design, development, production, installation, and maintenance of telecommunications products, software, hardware or services.

OpenTV Corp., a leading provider of solutions for the delivery of advanced digital television and advanced advertising services, announced today that its board appointed Ben Bennett as its CEO. He assumes this role after having served as acting CEO and COO since late August.
