Broadband Gear Report Playing Field for 7/31/2008
  • BigBand Networks appointed Susan George as regional vice president of cable sales. She will focus on Comcast, Cablevision, Cox and other cable accounts. George has spent more than 13 years working in management positions at companies such as Camiant, SeaChange International and Digital Media Studios.
  • Brickmeier James Brickmeier was named VP of product line management at Concurrent. In this role, he will lead product strategy and have P&L management responsibility for all of the company's product lines and new product initiatives.
  • Trilithic acquired Online Security Service, a provider of managed Internet security solutions. Trilithic Network Services will retain the management team of Kevin and Gary Windle, the brothers that co-founded the company in 1989. Kevin will act as director of business development. Gary Windle was named director of operations. The professional support and technical staff of the company will also remain.
  • Infinera President and CEO Jagdeep Singh recently received the 2008 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year Award for networking and communications in the Northern California program.
  • JDSU appointed Penny Herscher to its board of directors, and also appointed her to the company's Compensation Committee. She currently is the president/CEO of FirstRain.
  • Juniper Networks named Microsoft veteran Kevin Johnson as CEO. Upon his arrival in September, Johnson also will be appointed to the board of directors. Scott Kriens will continue as Juniper's chairman of the board and will remain active in the areas of strategy and leadership development.
  • Gorman The SCTE Foundation announced that Tom Gorman, who is chairman of the board of directors for the Society, is now also an SCTE Foundation Board of Directors member. Gorman, who is VP, field operations with Charter, replaces Yvette Gordon-Kanouff, who is chief strategy officer with SeaChange International. Gordon-Kanouff, who was integral to the establishment of the SCTE Foundation in 2005, will remain directly involved in helping to govern the Foundation as a member of the SCTE Foundation Awards Committee, which oversees the disbursement of the Foundation's grants.
  • The SCTE Foundation recently summarized the grants it approved for Society members during the second quarter of 2008. Helping to fulfill the educational goals of SCTE members, the SCTE Foundation approved grants for six individuals during the quarter:
