Broadband Gear Report (BGR) Announces Fourth Annual
Diamond Technology Reviews for 2008
Distinguished, Independent Panel Reviews New Product Offerings
Arlington, VA - January 21, 2008 - Broadband Gear Report, an industry leading online publisher of the hottest news on voice, data and video equipment and services, today announced the launch of its fourth annual Diamond Technology Reviews ("Diamonds"), a program dedicated to independent review and recognition of the industry's latest standout products, software and services that help cable operators increase performance, reliability and profitability of their networks. Vendors who participate in this program submit products for review that have been released or upgraded since June 30, 2007. The deadline for submitting applications is February 29 and results of the reviews will be announced concurrent with SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo in June 2008. Applications are available at http://www.broadbandgear.net/diamond-reviews.cfm.
Top MSO engineering executives serve as judges for the Diamonds. They determine a score from 0 to 5 Diamonds and also provide straightforward, unbiased opinions on the new technologies. Criteria used in the Diamonds rankings include innovation, ease of use, efficiency, reliability and technological capabilities.
Products receiving a Diamond rating of 3 or higher are featured in BGR's At-the-Show Product News magazine, which will be distributed at SCTE's Cable-Tec Expo from June 24-27, 2008, in Philadelphia. Selected Diamond Review products will also be presented on Broadband Gear Television (BGTV), a video program that runs 24/7 in all the main Expo hotels. Before the show, a feature article on the 2008 Reviews will appear in Broadband Gear Report and online at www.broadbandgear.net.
Vendors receiving top ratings in the 2007 Diamond Technology Review included Harmonic, BigBand, ARRIS, CommScope, Imagine, JDSU, EGT, EXFO, Mixed Signals and Aurora Networks, among others. Several vendors qualified for top ratings in 2007 for more than one product. A sampling of products scoring high marks included switched digital, CMTS, FTTH, encoders and more.
"We are enthused about offering the Diamonds program again in 2008. Unique in its unbiased review process, we let the technologies speak for themselves," Laura Hamilton, Editor-in-Chief at BGR, says. "Over the years, Diamonds vendors have been able to showcase key technologies available to broadband cable operators who are looking for the latest and best solutions for network infrastructure builds and upgrades."
